I’m Richard Moot — Block’s Developer Relations Technical Lead for AI enablement and commercial APIs.

My remit is split between two tracks: internal developer relations, where I lead AI enablement for the engineers building Block’s products, and commercial developer products, where I steward every public API experience outside of open source. That means running API design governance as the technical lead and partnering with product, security, and platform ops so our offerings feel cohesive.

Practically, I’m defining the layered tool pattern that powers the Square MCP server, scaling Goose—our MCP client—across internal workflows, and simultaneously delivering roadmaps, docs, and launches for Square, Cash App, and beyond. I tell those stories through talks, podcasts, and long-form writing. Outside of work you’ll still find me experimenting with Magic the Gathering decks, learning something new, or hunting down the next paintball match.
